Students Embark on an Unforgettable Educational Journey to China
Posted 28th April 2026
In March and April 2026, students from Dixons Newall Green Academy took part in an extraordinary educational visit to China, exploring the historic cities of Beijing and Xi’an. Over nine days, students experienced the country’s rich history, vibrant culture, and world‑famous landmarks, broadening their global understanding beyond the classroom.
In Beijing, students explored over 3,000 years of history, including visits to the Forbidden City, once home to emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties, and the Temple of Heaven, where they learned about ancient Chinese beliefs and imperial rituals. Other highlights included Qianmen Street, Beijing Zoo’s giant pandas, and the stunning Summer Palace.
A truly memorable moment was walking along the Great Wall of China, where students were inspired by its scale, engineering, and historical significance. They also explored traditional Hutong neighbourhoods, the Lama Temple, and local markets, gaining insight into everyday life in the capital.
The journey continued in Xi’an, one of China’s oldest cities and the starting point of the Silk Road. Students visited the awe‑inspiring Terracotta Army, built over 2,200 years ago to guard the tomb of China’s first emperor, and walked along the ancient City Wall. The visit also included the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a powerful symbol of China’s Buddhist heritage.
The trip concluded with the spectacular Qianguqing (Eternal Love) Show, bringing Chinese history and legends vividly to life through music, dance, and storytelling.
This unforgettable experience enabled students to engage directly with history, culture, and global citizenship. They represented Dixons Newall Green Academy with pride throughout the trip, and we would like to thank Mrs Kirkham and Mr Jones for accompanying the students and making this journey possible.
