Year 7 Design Workshop

On Monday 14 July a group of year 7 students had the privilege of taking part in a design workshop.

Richard Gilmartin is an automotive designer with 25 years of industry experience, who has worked for major international OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer) on production and show car programmes. During his career, he has designed for several premium automotive manufacturers, including: Bentley, Land Rover, Mini, MG, SAIC and Hongqi, leading teams in interior design and design visualisation. Currently, he is a lecturer in Transport Design, at the University of Staffordshire, and an active vehicle designer.

Richard showed students how all design basically comes down to a number of simple shapes. Students could not believe how he got a 3D mini from a series of lines and circles within minutes.
