Kate Henney

Vice Principal

After studying Education and English at the University of Cambridge and completing a master’s degree in Education at Harvard University, Kate began her teaching career in London in 2016. She held a range of positions, including Head of Social Sciences, Associate Director of Teaching and Learning and Early Career Teacher Lead. She enjoyed helping her classes and departments to achieve outstanding results, and helping to develop other teachers through coaching and professional development.

In 2021, she moved to Manchester, becoming Trust Assistant Principal for Research and Development in English with Dixons Academies Trust. She worked with Dixons Broadgreen Academy and Dixons Brooklands academy, supporting the English departments in implementing the Dixons curriculum. She also led English across the Trust, and was a Visiting Fellow with Ambition Institute.

Kate is passionate about education and its potential to change lives and create a fairer society, and loves to read recent research and blogs about evidence informed approaches in education. In her role as Vice Principal at Dixons Newall Green, she is committed to supporting every child to go to a university or real life alternative, thrive in a top job and to live a great life.
